If I'm still bad at Battlefield, does that mean it hasn't changed? - MMGN

MMGN writes: For the past few years, the best of the Battlefield series has been hidden by functionality issues. Battlefield 4, for example, stumbled through a troubled launch, hindered by online breakdowns and in-game glitches. Despite these issues, the game still has a strong online community, and its developer, DICE, continues to support it. The game was also a critical success, so there was obviously plenty right about what the game was trying to achieve. Battlefield Hardline, the latest entry in the series, this time from Dead Space developer, Visceral Games, hasnt quite had as turbulent a life as its predecessor, although were still in that pre-launch beta honeymoon period. Its delay, initiated so Visceral could give the game a more cops and criminals feel, raised common concerns about the functionality of the experience. Now that weve played the beta, its comforting to know that the game seems to run fine. But does it have that redefining sense of oomph that Visceral...

Resident Evil Remake HD Remaster Review - ThisGenGaming

Added: 27.01.2015 21:11 | 13 views | 0 comments

The HD Remaster of Resident Evil Remake comes at a rather crucial time for the Resident Evil series; the last major release from the franchise that popularized survival horror, Resident Evil 6, was roundly criticized for being a clumsy Michael Bay-styled romp that was neither scary nor fun. REmake HD, then, serves as both a reminder of what survival horror used to be like in its earliest days, before the genre swung into two extremes: hiding simulators like Amnesia and Outlast, or action oriented shooters like Dead Space and the last three major RE releases. So then, in reviewing REmake HD, it behooves one to consider how well it stands up to modern standards.

Alien: Isolation Review | Warp Zoned

Warp Zoned writes: "I consider myself quite the survival horror veteran. I was fifteen when I cut my teeth on Resident Evil. In college, my roommate and I had to take turns playing Silent Hill, and Clock Tower has me wary of all things scissors-related to this day. More recently, I tried Dead Space with the lights off for about the first two chapters. Point being, while most of these games scared the bejesus out of me (and yes, bejesus is a word I looked it up), they put more of an emphasis on the horror aspect of the game than the survival. By the time I reached the end of some of these games, I had enough weaponry and ammo to mow my way through countless legions of evil. When I first heard about Alien: Isolation, I thought I was in for another familiar romp through the annals of the survival horror genre. Boy, was I wrong."
